Harvard Walking Tour
Harvard Walking Tour
At the designated time, we'll meet on 7 North Street in Boston to kick off our guided walking tour of Harvard, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
First, we'll reach Faneuil Hall, one of Boston's most iconic landmarks and the birthplace of many speeches calling for American independence. Outside, you'll find the famous Samuel Adams Statue, dedicated to one of the city's revolutionary leaders. Next, we'll head to the lively Quincy Market, where you can soak up the atmosphere of downtown Boston. Just a short walk away, we'll stop at the New England Holocaust Memorial, a moving tribute made up of six glass towers honouring the millions of victims of the Holocaust.
Our tour will then take us past the historic Bell in Hand Tavern, the oldest continuously operating tavern in the United States, before arriving at the Old State House. Did you know it's one of Boston's oldest public buildings and a key site in the events leading up to the American Revolution? You'll learn all about it!
We'll continue to the Old South Meeting House, where colonists gathered before the Boston Tea Party, and then admire the elegant King's Chapel and the neighbouring King's Chapel Burying Ground, Boston's oldest cemetery, where many of the city's earliest settlers are buried.
Next, we'll pass by Old City Hall before making our way uphill to the impressive Massachusetts State House, crowned by its iconic golden dome. From here, we'll stroll through the charming streets of Beacon Hill, including the picturesque Acorn Street, often considered the most photographed street in Boston. Our walk continues through Boston Common, the oldest public park in the United States, before reaching the beautiful Public Garden, famous for its colourful flower beds and elegant swan boats.
After exploring Boston's historic center with the guide, we'll take the MBTA Red Line from Park Street Station to Harvard Station, crossing the Charles River into Cambridge. We'll discover Harvard Yard and the surrounding Harvard Square, where you'll admire the university's historic buildings, leafy grounds, and the famous John Harvard Statue.
Finally, we'll take the subway back to the initial meeting point, where we'll conclude our 4-hour tour.
